Celebration of a Homegoing

All of us here at GSST were both saddened and gladdened earlier this week to learn that Dr. Bill Dabney, Class of 2003, had passed from this life into the presence of the Lord for whom he had labored so long and vigorously during this life.  In recognition of over 60 years of service to the Lord, Bill was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree in 2003. We are saddened because we will miss his rich, glorious presence for now. BUT, we are gladdened because we know he is in the presence of the Lord.

Bill taught in the California public schools for nearly forty years, but that was not his "love". Hardly a Summer went by that Bill, almost always accompanied by his wife, Marilyn, went "far and wide" to share the Gospel with others. Among their venues were Australia, almost every country in Europe, most of South America, Japan, Korea, Thailand, and most of Central America. Until "grounded" as Bill called it, he was planning to visit Paraguay last month on another trip to share the Gospel.

Bill was preceded to heaven by his wife Marilyn, with whom he shared over 60 years of togetherness. We rejoice they may now share together for eternity the rewards they laid up over so many years of active and fruitful service.

Please remember the remaining members of the Dabney family in your prayers. Bill would be the first to tell each of us that "Prayer is the key to heaven, but faith unlocks the door."
